Anyone for tennis?

It's now cold in Doha. Well, I say cold, it's hardly Iceland, but we are struggling to reach 20C and for us that's positively Arctic. So, it's chilly, which means it's sporty season. There's the Qatar Masters (golf) on at the moment, and a few weeks ago it was the Qatar Open Tennis.

One of the nicest things about Doha is that it's easy to see these events. I remember queuing up for Wimbledon twice: once I got heatstroke, and the other time it was throwing it down and there was no play at all. Here you simply buy tickets in advance and show up...who'd have thought it could be that easy.

We had a slight error for the final and got the start time wrong. We turned up just in time for this:

Yes, we'd missed the entire match, and arrived just in time to see the trophies being handed out. Oh well, there's always next year!

Comments:
Oh No, You managed to miss it? We will have to hope Andy Murray is in good form next year.

I'd be annoyed buying tickets and then to miss out? Did you find something more interesting to do instead?

On the other Subject of the weather presenting/cats. I really dont feel that those wild cats would be any help even might catch something really bad.

I'm not sure what the problem is. Isn't the trophy presentation the most exciting part of tennis?

On a grass court, you can watch them mow the lawn, which beats tennis. But that's not an option in Qatar. I have no idea what surface they use there, but when I googled it to find out, it said that I'd boiled half a kettle and that the Open was sponsored by Exxon Mobil. I know Exxon Mobil don't like grass.

To be honest, the tickets were only 30 Riyals, so I didn't mind missing it! 30 Riyals - that's about 4 quid...or with the current exchange rate, about 900 pounds.

Also I had spend Wednesday and Thursday at the tournament, so I was pretty saturated. I was hoping for a Federer Monfils final...

Apparently the court is a plexicushion surface. Maybe I could get a few for my sofa?

I know what you mean. I think I once saw Murray smile...
Oh no, my mistake, that was just wind.
