Hell Part II
Thought I should fill you in on how swimmingly the rest of the car saga went...
With the police report sorted, and the car in the garage, I now had to sort out the insurance claim. Actually I was supposed to do this step before going to the Industrial Area, but still...
This bit should have been easy: I knew who I was insured with and I knew where the building was. Remember though, this is Doha...nothing is ever straight forward. I got there to be told that although they could process my claim, it would take them weeks, and would be far quicker if I simply went to the other guys insurance company myself. He drew me a map, making sure he included his name and mobile phone number, "just incase you fancy a coffee...".
If only he'd concentrated on drawing his map; it bore no resemblance to reality and I got completely lost. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I eventually got to their offices and got the correct forms. Now all I had to do was to fax them to the garage.
This somehow took 3 DAYS! They seemed to be only able to check their fax at 6pm, but by then they'd stopped answering the phone. I tried scanning it to them by email, which they said would be fine...until it arrived, then suddenly it wasn't. Eventually they gave me a different fax number, one that actually worked.
A couple of days later they phoned to tell me it was all ready. Off I went to be reunited with my wheels, but actually it was just the paperwork that was ready, rather than the car. They hadn't even started work on it. AAaaarrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Eventually though, it was ready and I could go to collect it. My car is now sitting proudly by the curb. Unfortunately its insurance has now expired, so I can't actually drive it anywhere.
Taxi!
