After 4 years at Sky News, Steff decided it was time for a change; She is now the weather forecaster at Aljazeera English, living and working in Doha, Qatar.

Many people made the same hilllllarious joke about the new job being really easy (sunny and hot), but it's world weather, so there's a lot more weather to look at. Also, for some strange reason it's done nothing but rain since Steff arrived, and it's now one of the wettest periods that Qatar has ever seen.

Steff, originally from Hampshire, won a place a Cambridge University in 1994. Here she was awarded an MA in Physics, gaining the University’s top marks for the final year presentation project. After a stint at Hospital Radio, Steff realised she needed to find a career that married her two main talents: presenting and physics, and what better than weather?!

However, before turning to weather, Steff tried a number of other careers. She taught GSCE and A-Level Physics and Maths, before turning her hand to the training of Scientific Instruments. Specialising in Ellipsometry, a non-destructive form of surface analysis, Steff held seminars and workshops throughout the UK.

In 1999, Steff turned her attention to meteorology and joined the Met Office. Here she qualified as a fully trained forecaster, becoming the first person ever to be awarded a distinction in her final forecasting exam.

It was whilst employed by the Met Office that Steff worked at the BBC. In 2000, she was appointed as the morning weather presenter for BBC Bristol. Here she delivered 16 radio broadcasts each day, as well as appearing regularly on the lunchtime and evening news.

Less than 2 years later, Steff was offered a job at National BBC TV and Sky News within the same week. After a great deal of deliberation Steff joined the weather department of Sky News where she became one of the key presenters. Whilst at Sky, she also broadcast for Channel 5 News, Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports News, and regularly appears on Virgin Radio, Talksport and Smooth FM. There were plenty of outside broadcasts as well, from locations which included The Cheltenham Festival and the FA Cup Final.

Now Steff is at Al Jazeera English, starting up a new weather department for a new channel. There's a lot to do, but she's never shied away from a challenge!
